Here are four easy steps that will help restore the smoothness of your once-perfect decking:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What you&#8217;ll need:<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.edecks.co.uk\/products\/27744\/415\/1554\/0\/groundsman-brown-pvc-broom-13-(supplied-with-socket-only)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">A tough brush<\/a><\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.edecks.co.uk\/products\/288\/17\/54\/0\/ronseal-decking-cleaner-reviver-(5-litre)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Decking cleaner<\/a><\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>A pressure washer or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edecks.co.uk\/products\/9856\/142\/494\/0\/hozelock-multi-spray-gun\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hose<\/a><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Clear the decking<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>To begin, you need a completely clear <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edecks.co.uk\/dept\/215\/softwood-decking-boards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">decking<\/a> space so you can thoroughly clean it, remove any furniture blocking access to the wood. Grab your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edecks.co.uk\/products\/27744\/415\/1554\/0\/groundsman-brown-pvc-broom-13-(supplied-with-socket-only)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tough brush<\/a> and give the decking a good sweep to dislodge any dirt. Don&#8217;t worry if the brush doesn&#8217;t clear any tough dirt, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edecks.co.uk\/products\/288\/17\/54\/0\/ronseal-decking-cleaner-reviver-(5-litre)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cleaner<\/a> will loosen those up!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\r\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.edecks.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/img_0974_2-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.edecks.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/img_0974_2-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1720\" width=\"463\" height=\"533\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Your decking should be completely clear and all loose debris swept away.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Clean the area<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Before you power ahead, read the instructions on the back of the packet of your chosen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edecks.co.uk\/products\/288\/17\/54\/0\/ronseal-decking-cleaner-reviver-(5-litre)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cleaner<\/a>. Some cleaners don\u2019t need water and can be poured directly onto your decking.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Pour your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edecks.co.uk\/products\/288\/17\/54\/0\/ronseal-decking-cleaner-reviver-(5-litre)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">decking cleaner<\/a> over the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edecks.co.uk\/dept\/215\/softwood-decking-boards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">decking<\/a> and immediately scrub it into the surface then leave it for 15 minutes to soak in. We used <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edecks.co.uk\/products\/288\/17\/54\/0\/Ronseal-Decking-Cleaner-Reviver-(5-litre)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ronseal <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.edecks.co.uk\/products\/288\/17\/54\/0\/ronseal-decking-cleaner-reviver-(5-litre)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Decking <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.edecks.co.uk\/products\/288\/17\/54\/0\/Ronseal-Decking-Cleaner-Reviver-(5-litre)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cleaner<\/a> as it removes dirt, grease, fungus, stains, algae, and mildew and saves you the hassle of heavy scrubbing.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\r\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.edecks.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/img_6606_2_large.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.edecks.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/img_6606_2_large.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1721\" width=\"474\" height=\"633\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Ensure the decking cleaner is thoroughly scrubbed in.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Once 15 minutes have passed, grab your pressure washer or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edecks.co.uk\/products\/2964\/264\/130\/0\/50mtr-reinforced-hose-pipe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hose<\/a> and thoroughly wash your decking. Stain your decking<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Whilst this step is optional, we do recommend <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edecks.co.uk\/subdept\/54\/0\/ronseal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">staining<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edecks.co.uk\/products\/16360\/17\/54\/0\/ronseal-ultimate-decking-oil-5l-(natural)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">treating your decking with an oil<\/a>. We used a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edecks.co.uk\/products\/11787\/17\/35\/0\/cuprinol-anti-slip-deck-stain-urban-slate-(2-5-litre)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cuprinol Anti-slip Deck Stain<\/a> which colours your deck with a tough, durable water-repellent protective coat that resists cracking and peeling caused by weather. For <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edecks.co.uk\/products\/11787\/17\/35\/0\/cuprinol-anti-slip-deck-stain-urban-slate-(2-5-litre)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cuprinol<\/a>, apply 2-3 coats evenly along the grain, avoiding overlaps, and allow each coat to dry fully before recoating.
